CEDAR RAPIDS, IA—Hawkeye Hotels has opened the newly constructed Residence Inn by Marriott here. This hotel opening will be the seventh property in the Creative Corridor for the Iowa-based Hawkeye Hotels’ portfolio and is one of about dozen new hotels being opened around the country for the company this quarter. The company currently owns four hotels in the Creative Corridor with three having been sold in recent years. The hotel opened its doors for business on June 28.

Each room in the 95-key property includes separate sleeping and living areas, a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator and microwave, and a 37-in. flat-panel HDTV. The hotel serves a complimentary full American breakfast, and Monday through Friday, the hotel offers a social hour called the Residence Inn Mix, which includes light meals or snacks and beverages.

Other amenities include an indoor heated pool, fitness center and business center. The hotel has meeting space that can hold up to 30 people. Users of the space will have the option of a projection screen and whiteboard. The hotel also offers a gas fire pit, BBQ area, basketball court and nearby jogging trails.

Located at 730 33rd Ave. Southwest, the all-suite, extended-stay property is close to Kirkwood Community College, Coe College, Brucemore Mansion, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and other attractions in Cedar Rapids.
